Welcome to the Community Development Department! I am privileged to lead a team dedicated to providing outstanding service and assistance to residents, business owners and potential investors. I am heavily invested in the success of the City as both a former volunteer, an employee and a resident eager to build on the successes of our small town in the heart of a big metro area.

Building Permits, Applications

and Inspections

Before you can build, rezone, install a sign and more you must gain approval from the City. Once building is underway and complete, inspections are required. These requirements ensure the health and safety of structures and properties and confirm construction matches approved plans.

Development Projects

and Public Hearings

Stay up to date with current development projects, ordinance changes and public hearings being
considered and/or held by the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and City Council.

Planning

and Zoning

Site plan approval and/or rezoning is the first step in development and redevelopment project approval
in the City. Approval is required for all non-single family residential construction and any changes in the
use of a property.

Community Plans

All of the City’s planning projects and initiatives are based on extensive studying and collaborative visioning to support the goals of the community. Community plans provide guidance to staff, residents, businesses and potential investors on the City’s main priorities and how those will be demonstrated through sound planning. There are several planning efforts underway as the City works toward continued implementation and study.
