Upcoming City Council Meeting: November 17, 2025

Since this is the first Council meeting following the election, the 40th City Council will conclude with a swearing in ceremony for re-elected (Mayor Dean, Councilmember Baker, and Councilmember Hennen) and newly-elected (Councilmember-elect Elrod) members. Then, after a brief recess, the 41st City Council will be called to order.
The second part of the meeting will begin with a presentation from the American Legion. Then, a large portion of the meeting will be focused on finance, with presentations on the recently-completed annual audit from both the auditors and the Finance department, as well as a budget-to-actual report and investment report for the quarter that ended on September 30, and a budget amendment authorization.
A public hearing for the Community Development Block Grant Program Year 2026 application in the approximate amount of $97,000 will be held, and Council will consider adopting a resolution for the application. The application will be for funding in the Public Facilities, Yard Services, and Disability Services categories.
Additionally, Council will consider a motion to approve the contract extension Letter of Understanding with the Berkley Police Service Aide Association/Michigan Association of Police. Finally, a motion to meet in a closed session immediately following the meeting will be considered. Closed sessions are held when material exempt from discussion or disclosure by state or federal statute in accordance with the Open Meetings Act, MCL 15.268(1)(h) will be discussed.
