Consent Agenda

This meeting had a larger Consent Agenda, which included budgeted purchases of trash carts, a new underground utility line locator, and various proclamations. Items typically included in the Consent Agenda are budgeted purchases and proclamations, and any supporting presentation for these items is included to start the Regular Agenda.

Volunteer Recognition

Councilmember Baker shared a proclamation recognizing National Volunteer Week (April 20-26), highlighting the importance of our community’s volunteers who freely give their time, energy, and skills to make our City a better place for everyone.

We are grateful for every resident who chooses to volunteer on a Board or Commission or with our community partners such as the Downtown Development Authority and Chamber of Commerce. Their contributions uplift and energize our community!

Municipal Credit and Community Credit Funds from SMART

City Council authorized Mayor Dean to execute an annual contract between the City of Berkley and SMART for municipal credit and community credit funds for the fiscal year 2025. These funds from SMART help offset the costs of our senior transportation program, which consists of door-to-door transportation service for retired or semi-retired residents over the age of 50 to assist them in getting to appointments, stores, and other helpful locations. All vehicles include wheelchair lifts, and residents interested in utilizing the service can call the Parks and Recreation Department at 248-658-3470 between 9 AM and noon from Monday to Friday to request a ride. This program is very valuable to our residents and helped 589 total passengers this past winter.
