City Council Meeting Preview: March 17, 2025

March 14, 2025

The next City Council meeting is Monday, March 17, at 7:00 PM.

We’re sharing a preview of the meeting, but you can view the full agenda and packet by clicking here.

The evening begins with a work session at 6 PM in the Public Safety Conference Room, located at 2395 12 Mile. Work sessions are open to the public, but not recorded or broadcast, and are an opportunity for City Council and staff members to discuss various topics with no decisions made. The topic of this work session is PILOT Workforce Housing.

Next, the regular meeting will start at 7 PM in Council Chambers, and will be streamed live on our YouTube channel and on WBRK. This meeting will include the second readings of several zoning ordinance updates that address inconsistencies between the draft Zoning Ordinance and certain provisions of the City Code, as well as updates to our City fee schedule.

Council will also consider a lease agreement for the use of the Berkley marquee. There is a common misconception that the marquee is a City-owned asset, but it’s actually part of the former Rite Aid building’s facade and is owned by the building’s owner. When the Berkley Theatre closed in 1993, the City entered into a lease agreement to use the marquee for messaging about community events and updates. That lease agreement has since expired, so the new lease agreement being presented is similar to the previous one.
