What Is the Board of Review?

The Board of Review is responsible for reviewing property assessments as requested by Berkley property owners. If it is determined a specific property has been inappropriately assessed or omitted from the tax roll, the Board of Review is responsible for making the correction in conjunction with the Oakland County Assessor.

Meeting Notice: Board of Review

The City of Berkley Board of Review will meet on the dates and at the times listed below for the purpose of reviewing the 2025 assessment roll, hearing any objections thereto and to conduct such other business as may be permitted or required by law.

City of Berkley property taxpayers can schedule a Board of Review appointment in advance by contacting Oakland County Equalization Division at 1-248-858-0773. 

Resident taxpayers may appeal by letter to the Board of Review if the written appeal is received by March 12, 2025, prior to the closing of the Board.

Homeowners Principal Residence Affidavit Information:
Owner-occupants may claim the principal residence exemption by filing an affidavit by June 1 for the immediately succeeding summer tax levy and all subsequent tax levies or by November 1 for the immediately succeeding winter tax levy and all subsequent tax levies. For any questions, please contact Oakland County Equalization at 1-248-858-0773.

Poverty Exemption Request:
Poverty Exemption Applications will be heard at the March Board of Review, as well as the July and December Board of Review sessions. The Poverty Exemption Application can be found on the City website. Please review it in its entirety and include all requested documents. If the application is incomplete, it will be tabled until the following Board of Review session. If all information is not received by the December Board of Review, the application will be submitted to the Board as-is.
