Beginning each year on March 1, all unpaid taxes must be paid at the Oakland County Treasurer’s office with additional penalties. During the month of March, a revised statement from the City Treasurer must accompany your payment.

*If the 31st or 14th falls on a weekend or holiday, taxes will be due the next business day.
If you pay your taxes yourself and do not receive a bill, call the Treasurer’s office at 248.658.3360 or email treasury@berkleymi.gov. If your mortgage company pays your taxes and you receive a tax bill – call the Treasurer’s office.

The winter rate is the same for a Principal Residence and Rental/Second Home for both School Districts.

In order to ensure that your tax bill is correctly mailed, please let us know if:
- you have refinanced and changed your mortgage company
- your mortgage was sold to another lender
- your mortgage has been paid off
- you sell your home
Important! Do not rely on your mortgage company or the new or former owner to relay this information. State law holds the homeowner responsible for making sure taxes are paid, so do what you can to see that tax bills are properly directed.

Beginning each year on March 1, all unpaid taxes must be paid at the Oakland County Treasurer's office with additional penalties. During the month of March, a revised statement from the City Treasurer must accompany your payment.
You can delay payment of your summer tax bill without penalty or interest until February 14 of each year if your total household income in does not exceed $40,000 and you meet one of the following criteria:

Senior citizens (62 years of age or older), including the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death

Paraplegic or Quadriplegic
-
Eligible Serviceperson, Eligible Veteran, Eligible Widow or Widower
-
Blind Person
-
Totally and Permanently Disabled
Proof of total prior year household income must be shown with a copy of your signed MI 1040CR (Homestead Property Tax Credit Claim). Applications for the deferment must be filed at the Treasurer's Office on or before September 15th of each year.
Housebound seniors may call the Treasurer’s Office at 248-658-3360 and schedule an appointment for someone to come to their house to assist them with their deferment.
The Berkley City Council has adopted policies and general guidelines for granting residents hardship exemptions for the Board of Review.
