Dorothea Pocket Park Popup

July 6-August 2,

2026

We are thrilled to partner with the Downtown Development Authority to bring this space back for another month this summer! The dead-end of Dorothea Road between Franklin and Catalpa will be closed to traffic from July 6 to August 2 as it is temporarily transformed into a pocket park for residents and visitors of all ages. Pocket parks are specifically noted as desirable in our Parks and Recreation Master Plan, our DDA’s Downtown Design Plan, and our City-wide Master Plan, so the space will continue to be activated for short periods of time to gather community feedback.

CLICK HERE for a video recap of the first activation, and CLICK HERE to view the presentation shared about that activation.

Whether you have visited the pocket park or just want to share ideas about how it could be activated in the future, please fill out the brief survey below.

Be sure to follow our Facebook page to stay up-to-date!

Dorothea Pocket Park Events

The DDA and City of Berkley have several upcoming events planned for the pocket park. We encourage one and all to utilize it as a space to gather, eat, play, work, and more!

Do you have an idea for a program you'd like to see in the pocket park? Reach out to communications@berkleymi.gov!
